ZimRights held meetings with local authorities and constituency representatives to look into issues to do with auditing land and minerals in their areas. This was in line with the need to ensure there is fair, transparent and equal distribution. Appreciating what they deemed as a noble idea, authorities in farming areas agreed that they will hold meetings to find out the number of people who need land in their respective communities and send the list to the Ministry of Lands for actioning. They promised to follow up until their efforts are fruitful. After the interactive meetings, authorities in mining areas agreed that locals had the right to preference in the allocation of mining licenses. However, miners must follow lawful requirements and procedures, a project that they pledged to support.
